LA Sober Coach

As addicts we lived lives of dishonesty, fantasy and destructive behavior.  We compartmentalized our lives.  Many of us actually had a totally secret second life. Probably the biggest tragedy of all is that, in our addiction,  we continually did things that were against our values. We acted in ways that we ourselves found morally objectionable. We were Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

A sober life is an authentic life, rooted in reality. It is a huge shift from the addict life. It can be confusing and frightening, especially so in the early months. It can also be painful and difficult. Often we lose patience with the process. It is uncharted territory. Sometimes it can feel hopeless.

A sober coach can take some of the uncertainty out of the recovery process. We provide you with a road map of where you are and where you are going, and we guide you there. No one can make this journey easy for you, but we can make it easier.  No one can make it quick, but we can speed it up. Here are some of the things we do:

Help provide clarity in sober decision making.

Design a relapse prevention plan.

Provide concrete steps to setting and achieving goals.

Call you out when you are in denial or self-deception.

Teach you new ways of communicating authentically.

Help with addiction migration. (The whackamole problem.)

Monitor your progress, and mirror it back to you.

Give you honest feedback.

Be an ally, a confidant, a role model and a mentor.
