Recovery from addiction is the road from a life of
“pitiful and incomprehensible demoralization” to
one that is “happy, joyous and free.”
That’s what they wrote in 1939 in the big book of
Alcoholics Anonymous. We’d say it differently today,
but the essence is the same.
